Editorial Policy

This page explains how we make the articles on QuitMate, so you can judge how much to trust them.

How our content is made

Our articles are written and edited by the QuitMate team. They rest on two things: the real, lived experience of our recovery community, and published research. Every article is reviewed before it is published, and we revise articles as understanding changes.

Experience and data

Our perspective comes from being a recovery community, not a clinic. We draw on the experiences our members share and on patterns in our own platform data. When we quote members, the quotes are real and anonymized, and we use them with care.

Sourcing

For claims about health, the brain, or recovery, we cite primary sources, such as peer-reviewed research and recognized health organizations. We also try to be honest about the difference between "the evidence is settled" and "this is a reasonable inference," rather than overstating what is known.

Not medical advice

QuitMate is not a medical provider, and our content is for general information only. It is not a substitute for diagnosis or treatment by a qualified professional. We do not have an individual medical reviewer; for any medical decision, please consult a professional. If you are in crisis or need support, contact a licensed provider or a local helpline.

Corrections

If you spot something inaccurate, tell us at [email protected] and we will look into it. More about us is on our About page.
